Species in African Grasslands: White Rhino

White Rhinos

White Rhinos are the second largest land mammal in the world. Thy live to about 50 years old. They have poor eyesight but they make up for it with their hearing and eyesight. The white Rhinos are found in two different places in Africa. They travel together in a group of 14 with mostly female and calves. The males are on look out to defend the "crash" and males mark their territories by different dung piles. The area where the rhinos search for food and look for mates is about seven times larger for female than it is for males. Males compete for females and the conflict is usually resolved with horn fights
